Review : Drift Runners

Drift Runners is quite simply the best Flash racing game I've ever played. There are six events each featuring a unique terrain and track type. All the classic terrains are there : rocky, desert, icy and jungle. You can feel a real difference as you negotiate each track type. The graphics are great and the other cars genuinely seem to be harassing you.

Two large pylons (one from the top and one from the bottom) split the stage into three roughly even spaces. The starting platform s on the far left and the target on the far right (under a short platform). Start by using a ramp to get the wheel into the middle section.

In this level the screen is roughly split in half by two RH large ramps with a relatively small gap between them defined by two LH ramps. Therefore, the path is fairly clear. It's real about how to achieve this.

This level extends the previous one requiring two six conveyor belts running in opposite directions. This level definitely needs some finessing to reach the target points. When the conveyors are too close there is a tendency for the wheel to skip one or more of the conveyors.

A sequence of conveyors creates a conveyor belt. In this case we have a left hand conveyor belt and a right hand conveyor belt connected by two ramps and a spring.

More buses! Many players start put trying run the wheel between the two rows of buses (or over the top). The problem with this approach is that there is no LH spring to bounce the wheel back towards the finish platform.

There are balls. There are lines between some of the balls. But they are all tangled up and where the lines cross each other they turn red. Your job is to re-arrange the balls so there aren't any crossovers.

Another all spring level. This time there is a tall stack of buses between you and the finish platform. The solution is to step the wheel up the springs.

Who's for a cruise? Not many points on this level for the amount of work required. Essentially a series of conveyors and ramps lead up to a bumper that bounces the wheel back down to the bottom conveyor.
